CPCS Training, Plant Safety & Construction Skills: - Managers, supervisors and operatives working with construction plant on sites need to be competent and aware of the health and safety procedures. This enables them to lower the risk to themselves and others on the site allowing them to work more safely whether related to construction activity, working with heavy plant equipment working, with cranes or planning lifting operations.
This category includes plant operator courses relating to construction plant safety and mainly comprises CPCS training courses, but also includes Non-CPCS courses. CPCS training courses lead to Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) qualifications.
The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is a card scheme to prove the skills of plant operators, and is the mostly widely recognized scheme for plant safety. CPCS cards are issued on successful completion of programs and these help to demonstrate the operating skills and health and safety awareness of workers. CPCS cards provide a uniform skills card system for the plant sector of the construction industry and on many constructions sites a CPCS card is a mandatory requirement to operate plant on site.
The mechanisms of the CPCS scheme are quite involved, so it is always a good idea to make an enquiry before booking a CPCS training course. There are a variety of card schemes including, red cards and blue cards. Training needs will depend on the whether the operator is a novice or experienced operator and there are pre-requisites for CPCS training including amongst others the need to have passed a ConstructionSkills Health and Safety Test. The issue of CPCS cards to operators requires them to have carried out any training necessary to bring the operator up to the standard required to pass the CPCS Technical Test. It is also necessary to pass both a CPCS Theory and Practical Test on courses.
There are a large number of CPCS training courses, including courses for lifting operations, slinger and signaller, mobile crane operators, crane appointed person and lift supervisor, excavators, dumpers, 360 degree telehandlers, and more.
