IEMA Courses

IEMA Courses are accredited by The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). This is a not-for-profit membership organisation established to promote best practice standards in environmental management, auditing and assessment.

Undertaking an IEMA course will give those involved in environmental auditing and management additional knowledge and skills to ensure their organisation is working towards a sustainable future. Individuals with IEMA accreditations can also use these to aid their career, especially if they choose to become a member of IEMA and as such can use the IEMA letters after their name (Graduate onwards).

Please note you do not have to be a member of IEMA to undertake an IEMA course.

IEMA Training Courses Available

IEMA training starts from Foundation level through to IEMA courses aimed at environmental auditors and those responsible for environment management within their organisation. There are also dedicated IEMA courses for those who will carrying out 1st, 2nd and 3rd party EMS audits.

There is also the option to sit the IEMA Diploma; this is aimed at managers, consultants and advisers who hold a specialist environmental role in their organisation. A diploma course will enable successful candidates to progress to holding a full membership of IEMA (MIEMA) and Chartered Environmentalist status (CEnv).

For those who may wish to undertake remote learning, there are also online classroom IEMA training courses available.

• IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management Course (suitable for those who are relatively new to environmental management and need an introduction to environmental issues).
• IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management Course (suitable for environmental practitioners and covers core knowledge areas for individuals wanting to become Associate IEMA members).
• IEMA Practitioner Certificate in Environmental Management Course (suitable for learners who are currently working within environmental management and need to have detailed knowledge of environmental/sustainable principles)

Other IEMA courses include the IEMA diploma course and a number of short courses such as:

• Environmental Awareness

Course Delivery

IEMA training courses are delivered throughout the UK, either as open public courses or as dedicated courses on customers’ own sites or privately arranged venues.

Course duration will vary based on the course chosen and the level of expertise the course is aimed at. Short IEMA courses used as foundation or introductory training will be short, typically a day in length, whereas an Environmental Management course such as the IEMA Associate Certificate Course in Environmental Management will be longer; this particular course spans 10 days.
