The First Aid at Work certificate is valid for three years and can be renewed by taking a First Aid at Work Refresher or Requalification training course.
First Aid certificates can be renewed no matter when they expired (the law on this changed in October 2013; prior to this, there was a 28-day expiry limit). Please note however, should there have been a significant period of time since doing the original course, candidates must ensure that they are both up to date with current legislation and reasonably confident of their abilities prior to attending a First Aid at Work refresher training course.
This First Aid at Work Refresher course is aimed at those who need to re-qualify either prior to or after their certificate has expired.
Candidates will be continually monitored throughout and will also need to successfully complete an assessment in order to renew their First Aid certificate.
This two-day First Aid at Work Refresher training course revisits topics covered in the three-day First Aid at Work training course such as:
This course will take place over 2 days at a set location. Delegates will be expected to undertake practical exercises in simulated emergency situations to practice both old and new first aid skills.
If a large number of people need to sit the Requalification course, then it may be more practical to enlist a trainer to attend onsite for the 2 days instead.
Please note that all candidates must be able to undertake practical activities such as lying down and kneeling to simulate a potential emergency situation
