Electrical - City & Guilds Training Courses

City & Guilds electrical training courses are designed to train workers in a range of categories related to working with electrics, as well as inspection and testing. City & Guilds training courses can be delivered nationwide and are recognised on a global basis as training to deliver workplace excellence, not only in electrical training but in areas such as working on the highways and roads, working in confined spaces and tunnels and working with and in water.

Some of the most popular C&G training courses include:

C&G 2079-11 F-Gas Category 1

City & Guilds courses relating to F-Gas (FCAT1) are designed for those who need to install, service, maintain, recover gases and check for leakage when working with air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump units.

C&G 2377-22 & 32 Portable Appliance Testing

There are typically 3 course type options for City and Guilds PAT (portable appliance testing), although some versions may include an extra day for those with little or no electrical experrience.

  • City and Guilds 2377-32 (Management) In Service Testing & Inspecting of Electrical Equipment (PAT). This unit covers the management aspects of portable appliance testing including overseeing, management of services registers, etc. and is typically delivered in a one-day format.
  • City and Guilds 2377-22 (Practical Inspection and Testing) In Service Testing & Inspecting of Electrical Equipment (PAT). This unit covers the practical testing elements of testing and is typically delivered in a one-day format.
  • City and Guilds 2377-22/32 (Combined Management, Practical Inspection & Testing) In Service Testing & Inspecting of Electrical Equipment (PAT). This course covers both of the above units in one combined course, typically 2 days in duration and aimed at those with some electrical knowledge and who plan to carry out portable appliance testing within their own organisation or to offer this as a service to other companies.

C&G 2382-18 (18th Edition) Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2018)

These courses address the requirements of the 18th Edition of The IET Wiring Regulations (Also known as BS 7671:2018), which came into force 2nd July 2018. An 18th Edition electrical course is suitable for those who are currently involved in domestic, industrial of commercial electrical installation work.

There are full course formats and update courses available for those who have previous experience with the 17th edition IET Wiring Regulations. The full course format is typically 3 days and the update format 1 day.

C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing

There are essentially three main course types for City and Guilds 2391, these are:

  • City & Guilds 2391-50 - Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations. This course is for practising electricians who will be carrying out Initial inspection and testing of electrical installations with formal, accredited certification.
  • City & Guilds 2391-51 - Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. This course is for practising electricians who will be carrying out Periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations with formal, accredited certification.
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 - Inspection & Testing Course. This course is aimed at practicing electricians who wish to gain qualifications in both Initial verification as well as Periodic Inspection, Testing and Reporting.

C&G 2392 - Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification

These courses lead to a Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification and provide the necessary skills and confidence to inspect and test fundamental installations and conduct initial verification.

C&G 2393-10 – Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings (Part P)

These course types cover a wide range of installation topics and how they relate to the Part P building regulations.
