Candidates who hold a valid Red (Trained Operator) CPCS card are eligible to work towards the CPCS Blue Card - this signifies a Competent Operator - within the 2 years their Red CPCS card is valid for. To achieve this, they will need to complete the relevant NVQ course. Once the NVQ has been successfully achieved, they will be awarded with the CPCS Blue card.
Eligible NVQ candidates will need to hold:
Private individuals looking to gain CPCS certification should read our guidelines for CPCS Training and the Private Individual before applying for any CPCS course.
The Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations is delivered through the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) route, at a candidate’s place of work and consists of an assessor visiting the candidate several times over a period of six to eight months. The assessor will collate evidence of the candidate’s experience through observations, assessments, witness testimonies and statements.
Once the evidence has been collected, the assessor will create a portfolio which will be internally verified before being sent to the CPCS to be marked. Once the CPCS have confirmed that the candidate has successfully completed their NVQ, they will issue the Competent Operator ‘Blue’ CPCS card. Please note that this administration process can take up to three months.
Although the Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations is valid for the life, the CPCS Blue card is only valid for five years and will need to be renewed by completing online tests for each category held.
We have a wide range of NVQ CPCS courses across the spectrum of CPCS categories to work towards upgrading from the Red CPCS card to the Blue CPCS card, including the higher levels for Plant Operations and Controlling Lifting Operations. For further information please send an enquiry to enquiries@bookmycourse.co.uk.
Note:- The days column below will not be accurate and for the purpose of an NVQ should be considered as the unit price. As indicated under the course detail above, the assessor will telephone and visit the candidate at their place of work a number of times and over a number of months.
