The CPCS Appointed Person Course has been designed for those who are appointed with the day-to-day responsibility for planning lifting operations – hence the title, “Appointed Persons” lifting course. This course aims to instruct delegates how to safely plan a lifting operation to ensure compliance with the law and secure the health and safety of all employees and of those who may be affected by their actions.
Foundation and Experienced Worker variants of the Appointed Person course are available to cater for all levels of experience. Delegates must have 2 years minimum experience in the role before they are eligible for an Experienced Worker course. A Foundation course will typically span 4 to 5 days, whereas an Experienced Worker course is shorter and typically takes 2 days.
Successful candidates will have sufficient knowledge and information to safely plan lifting operations for mobile cranes on a busy construction site.
Please note that for all CPCS tests, candidates must have successfully completed the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment touchscreen test for Operatives within the past two years.
If you are a Private Individual looking to undertake this course, please read the following article CPCS Training and the Private Individual.
The CPCS A61 course provides simulated workshop lift planning exercises in the training room and gives delegates the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills into practice before the test. This includes an ability to plan a lift, interpret and apply sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the BS 7121 Safe Use of Cranes and to understand the LOLER Regulations.
All courses end with the CPCS Theory and Practical Tests applicable to this course.
