This category of Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) training course is aimed at operatives of Trailer Mounted Boom – Concrete Pump vehicles in a construction environment. All candidates must have successfully completed the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment touchscreen test within the past two years.
Operatives who have 2 or more years recent and consistent experience operating a Trailer Mounted Boom are eligible for the Experienced Worker course. This typically lasts for 2 days. The Foundation/Novice level is applicable for those who do not have 2 years’ experience in the role; these courses last longer, around 5 days in duration.
Both variants of the course end with the CPCS training course will finish with the CPCS theory and practical tests for this category.
Successful course candidates will receive the Red CPCS Card (Trained Operator) endorsed with the Trailer Mounted Boom – Concrete Pump category. This is valid for 2 years. Those who wish to move forward to the Blue CPCS Card can then work towards obtaining the NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations, within those 2 years.

This CPCS training course is relevant for those who operate Trailer Mounted Boom – Concrete Pumps. This course covers a wide range of elements from pre-use checks to manoeuvring and communication procedures.
For all CPCS categories and skill levels, the CPCS theory test is a verbal questions and answer session which will take approximately an hour to complete. The CPCS practical test for the Trailer Mounted Boom, Concrete Pump must be completed within ninety minutes and will consist of the candidate using the machine to complete a variety of activities and manoeuvres including pumping materials and disposing of waste.
