CITB (TSTS) - Tunnelling Safety Training Scheme

The one-day CITB Tunnelling Safety Training Scheme (TSTS) course forms part of the Site Safety Plus scheme of CITB courses and has been designed to train those working in the specific area of tunnel construction.

CITB Course Detail

The TSTS course aims to instruct those working within the tunnel construction industry about the common hazards faced in the working environment, and how to work safely in this environment.

This CITB course includes the following elements:

Entering a tunnel environment
Construction of a tunnel including, plant and equipment used and surface works and shafts
Emergency arrangements
Occupational health and safety including PPE requirements
Environmental impact of tunnels
Risk assessment and risk management
Safe conduct and behaviour whilst working in a tunnel environment
Relevant legislation

Candidates will be required to complete a multiple-choice assessment and upon successful completion, will receive a CITB accredited certificate which is valid for three years.

Course Delivery

The CITB TSTS training course is available throughout the UK, either on open course events or as dedicated courses on customers’ own sites.

The CITB TSTS Tunnel Safety Training Scheme course is often run as a dedicated course event but will have some open courses from time to time.
