Remote delivery of the CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is now possible as the CITB changed the scheme rules in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic to allow delivery of CITB Site Safety Plus Courses online in virtual classroom format.
This introductory CITB online training course is part of the Site Safety Plus range of CITB courses. It is aimed at operatives and newcomers to the construction industry and is an ideal foundation course for those wishing to obtain an industry accreditation certificate.
The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is typically taken by those who wish to obtain the CSCS Labourers 'Green' card. Previously, the CSCS did not accept e-learning qualifications but will accept the e-learning CITB Health and Safety Awareness course during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
As it stands, there is no set end date for any CITB courses available in an online format, but more conventional classroom dates are now being released, giving candidates more options as to how they wish to obtain their qualifications.
Please note that in order to apply for the CSCS Green card, candidates must hold a valid CSCS Health, Safety and Environment test for Operatives.

For those wishing to obtain a CSCS Labourer’s Green Card, there is an e-learning alternative. The Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (Leading to CSCS Green Card) - E-Learning course is an ETA Award accepted by CSCS as a recognised achievement towards a CSCS labourers Card. The Level 1 course can be done at your own pace through E-learning and once passed the qualification does not have a formal expiry date, but a renewal would be recommended every five years. This course includes an on-line invigilated course exam and is equivalent to the traditional CITB - Health and Safety Awareness course. On successfully completing and passing this E-Learning course, the route to obtaining the green card is the same as for the CITB - Health and Safety Awareness course; i.e. as well as passing the course you must have completed and passed the Health, Safety and Environment touch screen test at an approved centre either within a period of two years before obtaining the qualification or before the course qualification expires. When you have passed both the course and the touch screen test, you are then eligible to make a green card application.
