This AET course is suitable for those who have a little experience in teaching and have also previously completed either the PTLLS or Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
To register for the course, candidates must be at least 19 years old but do not necessarily need to have any teaching experience. Candidates do not need to currently be working in a teaching environment to complete the course but will need to log a minimum of 30 hours teaching in a real classroom in order to pass.
If candidates wish to progress, we will then recommend that they complete the Level 5 Certificate in Education and Teaching (formally known as DTLLS).
Please note, the AET Level 4 Award in Education and Training course replaced CTLLS in 2015.
This leads on from the AET Level 3 course. It consists of five mandatory units and will focus on; the responsibilities within education, planning, delivery and assessment in education and using resources within education.
The course is assessed through written assignments and three observations. Candidates will also have to teach a minimum of thirty hours, which is then recorded in a log along with lessons plans. Observations will be carried out by a mentor chosen by the candidate, the only pre-requisite being that the mentor must have at least a Level 4 qualification.

The AET Level 4 Award in Education and Training course is delivered through e-learning, although classroom-based courses can be arranged for dedicated group bookings at customers’ sites.
This AET course takes approximately three months to complete. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates receive a certificate for the Level 4 Award in Education and Training which is valid for life.
