This AET course is suitable for those who have little to no experience in teaching but wish to work in a teaching capacity in a variety of sectors including further education colleges, adult education, HM forces and the public sector.
To register for the course, candidates must be at least 19 years old but do not necessarily need to have any teaching experience. Candidates do not need to currently be working in a teaching environment to complete the course.
If candidates wish to progress, we will then recommend that they complete the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Teaching (formally known as CTLLS).
Please note, the AET Level 3 Award in Education and Training course replaced PTLLS in 2014.
The course consists of a combination of optional and mandatory units and candidates must achieve twelve credits to pass the course. Candidates will learn the responsibilities in education, how to enable learning and development for both individuals and groups and the need for assessment in education.
The course is assessed through written assignments and observations. Typically, observations are either recorded and sent to the trainer or are delivered live with Skype. If a candidate is not currently working in a teaching environment, they will need to organise a group of three or more people to attend a ‘micro-teaching’ session which should last for at least twenty minutes.
Course topics include:
The AET Level 3 Award in Education and Training course is delivered through e-learning, although classroom-based courses can be arranged for dedicated group bookings at customers’ sites.
