Abrasive wheels – that is, wheels, discs, cones or cups that are abrasive and used in processes such as grinding, shaping or cutting, can be extremely dangerous if operated incorrectly. Abrasive wheel operators need to be aware of the risks posed when using such equipment, and how to use abrasive wheels and related equipment safely and correctly. As such, Abrasive Wheels training courses help companies and individuals to meet the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and work within the legislation set out in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
Employees who may be required to use an abrasive wheel in the workplace need to be competent in the safe mounting of abrasive wheels and disks.
