Vehicle Marshall/Banksman Training

Site Access Traffic Marshals (SATMs) work at the site entrance are a critical interface between the site, vehicle operations and the public. 

They ensure only authorised vehicles and people enter the site, while ensuring vehicles entering and leaving the site do so safely and efficiently.
 
The course will enable learners to:

• Understand relevant health and safety legislation and regulations pertaining to traffic management on construction sites.
• Understand the roles and responsibilities of a Traffic Marshal on a construction site.
• Identify potential hazards and risks associated with vehicle movements onto and off construction sites.
• Understand the principles of safe vehicle marshalling and signalling techniques.
• Be proficient in using hand signals and communication methods to guide vehicles safely onto and off site.
• Understand the importance of effective communication with site personnel, including drivers, supervisors, and other workers.
• Know the emergency procedures and protocols in the event of an accident or incident involving vehicles on site.
• Understanding the importance of maintaining clear and safe access routes on construction sites.
• Assess and manage traffic flow to minimise congestion and ensure the efficient movement of vehicles on site.
• Carry out routine checks and inspections of traffic management equipment, such as cones, barriers, and signage.
• Be aware of environmental considerations and the impact of construction site traffic on the surrounding area.
