Who Should Attend:
This signing, lighting and guarding assessment programme is designed for supervisors who must supervise the setup of traffic lights, barriers and cones on the roads and highways. This one-day option is aimed at experienced candidates and is an assessment only programme.
Course Aims:
To assess experienced Supervisors on their skills and knowledge to carry out Signing, Lighting and Guarding in-line with the current NRSW Act to safeguard themselves and others.
Course Contents:
• New Roads and Street Works Act
• Basic principles of signing, lighting and guarding
• Traffic control measures
• Practical use of the Code of Practice
• Portable traffic lights
• Practical use of equipment
Knowledge:
By the end of the Signing, Lighting and Guarding assessment delegates should be able to show they:
• Understand the basic principles of the NRSW Act and standards
• Identify and use correct traffic control measures
• Erect and dismantle signing, guarding, and lighting safely and in accordance with the supporting Code of Practice
• Correctly and confidently operate the equipment used
Teaching Methods
The NRSW Signing Lighting and Guarding course is highly interactive with a high proportion of discussions, best practice sharing, syndicate practical exercises and case studies will be supplemented with classroom-based assessment course.
Assessment Methods
Delegates will be continuously assessed during the NRSW Signing Lighting and Guarding course and must complete a multiple choice theory exam by digital submission along with a practical assessment.
Supervisors must demonstrate the ability to monitor a site and compile written reports to successfully complete the assessment.
Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English. Only those with experience should attend, this is an assessment only course.
