Course Summary
This 1-day course will provide you with thorough knowledge of the role of a Temporary Works Supervisor, including a sound understanding of the risk management of temporary works. The course is designed to assist Managers, Supervisors, Agents and Personnel on site who have responsibility for supervising all forms of temporary works.
It is suitable for people with experience of being responsible for temporary works. Such as –
• Supervision and checking
• Issuing load/unload permits
• Assisting the temporary works coordinator, often the TWC will discharge some of their responsibilities to the supervisor
How does it work?
At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:
• Risk management of temporary works - safety and business related
• The importance of the '4Cs' communications, co-operation, co-ordination and competency in managing temporary works as a Temporary Works Supervisor
• Legal duties
• The roles and responsibilities of the Temporary Works Supervisor
• The role of other temporary work process
• An understanding of the relevant aspects of BS 5975.
The course is taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations. You will need to do some self-study outside of the course this will be followed by a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
Pre-requisites
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although you will need a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Validity of Course
Valid for 5 years after which the course must be re-taken.
