Tower Climber and Rescue Revalidation (MATs)

Who Should Attend:

The tower climber and rescue course is an annual refresher for delegates who have previous climbing experience within the last 12 months. They will cover climbing on ladders and open structures, as well as the rescue of a fellow climber, suspended by a fall arrest lanyard, from a structure.

Course Contents:

- Health and safety legislation.
- Risk assessment and method statements.
- PPE selection and usage.
- PPE maintenance and inspection.
- Assessing climbing technique.
- Efficient rescue plans.
- Use of fall arrest/work positioning lanyards.
- Suspension trauma.
- ‘Off-weighting’ casualty.
- Rescue exercises.

Delivery and Assessment:

Classroom based theory and practical climbing and rescue sessions with scenario-based activities. Written and practical assessment to ensure theoretical and practical understanding has been achieved.

Course Requirements:

Delegates must be over 18 yrs, physically fit, able to work at height with previous climbing experience. Delegates will be required to complete a medical declaration.

Equipment Required:

Delegates will need to bring suitable climbing PPE and clothing for seasonal weather conditions. Climbing PPE may be provided upon request.
