Course Overview This assessed course is designed to cover the application of recognised management principles in health and safety, and will equip delegates to tackle issues in their own workplaces.
On completion of this training, candidates will have acquired capabilities to: - Apply basic management principles to health and safety issues - Recognise health and safety hazards in the workplace - Ensure that adequate health and safety training and supervision of staff is provided - Identify what actions should be taken when incidents involving injury or damage occur - Communicate effectively on health and safety issues
Who should attend? Managers with a responsibility for people and/or processes in their workplace. The training is equally relevant for managers and supervisors, at any level, who require a basic broad view of current health and safety requirements and principles.
Course Content and Duration A four/five-day course covering health and safety management basics, includes sophisticated and fun presentations with content based on what delegates need to know in practice. Case studies include clear scenarios managers can relate to, and a wide range of Safety topics are covered, including;
- Introducing Managing safely - Understanding your responsibilities - The law on health and safety at work - Assessing and controlling risks - Identifying hazards - The costs of accidents - How losses occur - Safety management models and risk management - The nature of commonly encountered hazards - Human factors affecting safety performance - Accident causation and investigation - Protecting our environment
