Course Objectives:
This two day course is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire Supervisory responsibilities. It provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will highlight the requirement to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.
This course is endorsed by the Major Contractors Group as the standard training for all supervisors working on MCG sites.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who works in Construction/Civil Engineering at Supervisory level, or is about to be promoted to a Supervisory position.
Course Content:
The aims of this course are:
To ensure that all those given supervisory responsibilities understand:
- Why they are carrying out their identified duties
- What is expected of them
- To ensure that they contribute to the safety of the workplace
At the end of the course Delegates will be able to:
- Understand the problems of the industry
- Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured and how it applies to supervisors
- Identify how their role fits in with the management structure in controlling the site safely
- Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
- Carry out effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
- Be able to monitor site activities effectively
- Understand the importance of timely intervention when bad practice is identified
Assessment:
Delegates will be required to complete a multiple-choice question paper, as well as being interactive during the course.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a CITB accredited certificate which is valid for five years.
Please note that as of the 1st January 2016, CITB Site Management / Site Supervisor certificates will no longer have a six month grace period and candidates will need to attend a Refresher course before the expiry date of their original certificate.

The IT requirements for this course are as follows:
• A laptop or PC with a webcam and microphone
• Reliable internet connection - super fast or fibre optic internet
• Our preferred browser for delegates to use is Google Chrome, however Firefox or Internet explorer will suffice
Please ensure the delegates have the following information with them for the course:
• Delegates will be required to show photographic ID to confirm their identity at the start of the course. Please ensure they have with them a valid CSCS Card, Driving Licence or Passport.
• Delegates are required to have their NI numbers.
• CITB levy payers will need to bring their levy number in order to claim back the attendance grant.
• For Refresher courses - please ensure a copy of the delegates current certificate is emailed through to the training provider no later than 2 working days prior to the course.
The end of course assessment link will be emailed to your delegate on the final day of the course. Please ensure the email addresses member@surveymonkeyuser.com and gosurveymonkey.com are added to your whitelist and is allowed through your email security system to avoid any technical issues on assessment day.
