Summary

The CITB Construction Skills SSSTS Course is designed for team leaders, foremen, gangers, first line managers and supervisors with supervisory responsibilities and a need to understand their legal duties within the construction industry.

Through an understanding of legal responsibilities supervisors can better contribute to the instruction, supervision and monitoring of safety on site. The SSSTS course is an ideal foundation for attaining a basic understanding of health & safety duties and responsibilities for junior management in construction work.

This course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on UKCG sites. Grants for these training courses are available to CITB Levy Payers. 

 
Course Objectives

The SSSTS site safety training course, includes the following elements: -

- Legal requirements regarding health and safety 
- Regulations and health and safety acts  
- Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
- Guidance notes and approved codes of practice  
- The types of accidents that occur within the construction industry, what causes them and how they can be prevented 
- How to conduct a risk assessment

Teaching and Assessment 
 
This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies and classroom discussion Final test: 30 minutes

Qualifications Gained 
 
CITB Site Safety Plus certificate. 
This Certification is valid for 5 years. To remain certified you must retake this course before the expiry date.
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
