Delegates who currently hold an existing two- day SSSTS within scope of renewal requirements
Objectives
At the end of the course delegates should be able to:
- Understand the problems of the industry.
- Understand how Health and Safety Law is structured and how it applies to Site Supervisors. Identify their roles in the management structure in controlling Site Safety.
- Carry out Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Carry out effective Site Inductions, Toolbox Talks.
- Be able to monitor Site activities effectively.
Course content
- How health and safety law is structured
- How the supervisory role fits in with the manager’s role in controlling the site safely
- Understanding the need for method statements
- Communication routes within site activity
- Behavioural safety
- Supervision of occupational health.
Candidate assessment:
Continuous assessment by the trainer with an end of course multiple choice assessment and group assessment exercises.
Qualification:
On completion of the course and final assessment; successful Candidates will receive an industry recognised CITB certificate valid for 5 years.
Course progression:
This course is an ideal foundation for obtaining a basic understanding of health and safety duties and responsibilities for lower management and upon successful completion of this course, a natural progression would be the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course.
