Safety Pass Alliance (SPA) Ltd is an organisation whose purpose is to design and implement Safety Passport Training Schemes and to effect their delivery through a national network of accredited training providers. Working together with industry, the SPA is committed to providing a nationally recognised standard of health and safety training.
This SPA 2 day course consists of a first “Core Day” which acts as an introduction to health & safety. The second day is specific to Petrol Retail – Forecourt Contractors and has been designed to build on the basic health and safety information of the “Core Day” programme by concentrating on risks specifically found with working on a Petrol Filling Station.
As of 31st December 2003, The PRNSG and UKPIA members set that contractors working in that industry must hold a valid “SPA Safety Passport”.
Course description
Core Day
This day aims to provide basic information and areas of responsibility for health, safety and the environment. To understand the implications of hazard recognition/risk assessment and effects on individuals and the employer. To demonstrate how individual behaviour can help reduce accidents.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course delegates will have the knowledge to: -Demonstrate their understanding of the subjects by successfully completing each module assessment paper -Appreciate how they personally can influence good standards within health, safety & the environment -Understand the value of risk assessment and have the knowledge to recognise when change to a generic assessment is required -Understand the common hazards associated with work.

Course Description
Petrol Retail
This day aims to build on the basic health and safety information of the Core Day programme by concentrating on risks specifically found with working on a Petrol Filling Station.
To allow delegates to recognise hazards, utilise control measures and safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Assessment
A delegate’s understanding is assessed by multiple-choice questions and after attending and passing this course a new credit card sized “SPA Safety Passport” is issued showing the training that the delegate has attended and completed successfully. This is shown on the passport by sector icons.
*SPA Passports have a 3 year expiry date*
After the successful completion of the 2 day Core and sector course a passport will be issued with a 3 year expiry date.
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
