SMSTS Training (CITB) - Site Management Training
Site Management Safety Training Scheme
Duration: 5 days
Target Audience
The SMSTS training course is intended for project managers, site managers and site supervisors as well as proprietors of small to medium sized companies. Client-based personnel would also benefit from attending the course. Possession of the CITB SMSTS qualification is listed in the Approved Code of Practice for the construction (Design and Management)(CDM) Regulations as a demonstration of competence in the role of site manager.
Aims & Objectives
To help site managers, agents and supervisors to:
- manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management or supervisory role
- develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare
- recognise a safe site is efficient, economical and productive
At the end of the period of training, delegates will be aware of, and able to:
- implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work
- implement new guidance and industry best practice
- state their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

Candidates will be issued a copy of GE700 – Site Safety Simplified Course
Attendance
Delegates are required to attend all sessions, since without full attendance the Construction Site Manager’s Safety Certificate will not be awarded. Delegates must attend the days in order, in accordance with the course programme, to achieve the necessary learning objectives to qualify for the certificate. If this is not possible the Delegate must enrol on a new course and retake the full five day course.
Assessment
The method of assessment will be by exercises, a case study and an end of course examination.
Certification
Certificates are valid for 5 years.

Please note that as of the 1st January 2016, CITB Site Management / Site Supervisor certificates will no longer have a six month grace period and candidates will need to attend a Refresher course before the expiry date of their original certificate.
