Summary
Introduced in 1979, this scheme was aimed at providing safety management training within the building and civil engineering industries. It is now accepted that by attending the course individuals are able to act more pro-actively in terms of managing site safety as well as assisting in developing a more positive safety culture so much needed by the industry.
Who Should Attend?
The course is suitable for a wide range of persons connected with the construction industry to include site managers, engineers, architects, local authority employees, large client representatives, proprietors of small businesses and sub-contractors. Ideally candidates should have fulfilled a supervisory or management role within the construction industry.
Course Content
Delegates will receive detailed training and will be given the opportunity to apply practical knowledge whilst gaining a clearer understanding of:
- Current safety legislation and industry best practice
- Good site set up and organisation
- Roles and responsibilities
- The efficiencies gained through safe working practices
- Management techniques used to improve safety culture
On Completion
Delegates will be assessed daily by their input to group exercises. There is a group presentation on day five followed by a multiple-choice assessment. Successful delegates will be awarded with a ConstructionSkills certificate, which is renewable every 5 years by attending a ConstructionSkills approved 2-day refresher course.
Please note that as of the 1st January 2016, CITB Site Management / Site Supervisor certificates will no longer have a six month grace period and candidates will need to attend a Refresher course before the expiry date of their original certificate.
