SMSTS Training Refresher (CITB) - Site Management Safety Training Scheme

Course Overview

This is a two-day refresher of the full Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)course
It updates your knowledge of your responsibilities for site safety, health, welfare and the environment.

Who Should Attend?

This course is for those who already hold a validSMSTS certificate, gained in the last five years. You must take this course before your certificate expires

This refresher is designed to ensure that personnel maintain and update their current health and safety knowledge. The refresher course covers changes to legislation, approved codes of practice and best working practice within the industry.

Upon completion of this SMSTS Refresher training, candidates will be able to:

• Appreciate recent developments in construction legislation accident causes,costs and reasons for prevention
• Understand the legal system, relevant legislation, Approved Codes of Practice,Guidance Notes Codes of Practice and Case Law
• Conduct risk assessments
• Monitor health and safety performance Understand best practice in the management of sub-contractors
• Disseminate information to operatives and Sub contractors

• The current focus of the Health and Safety Executive’s attention
• Risk assessment and method statements
• Construction Site Health, Safety and Welfare Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous
• Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
• Behavioural safety
• Occupational health
• Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction.

This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations.

Certification

Upon completing the SMSTS refresher course, youwill receive a digital certificate which is valid for 5 years. This will provide employers with evidence that you have completed your refresher course and know your current duties as a site manager.
To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date onyour certificate.
