Entry Requirements

 

Delegates who have passed the 5 Day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or a previous SMSTS Refresher course in the last 5 years are able to sit this course. You must provide us with evidence of this to be able to attend the 2 Day Refresher course.

 

What To Expect

 

This course will update your knowledge of your responsibilities for the site safety, welfare and the environment. This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations.

Course Content

• The current focus of the Health and Safety Executive’s attention

• Risk assessment and method statements

• Construction Site Health, Safety and Welfare

• Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)

• Behavioural safety

• Occupational health

• Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction

 

Exam Information

• Continuous assessment - You need to attend the 17.5 hours.

• Multiple-choice test.

 

The course also includes publications, registration, certification, a light lunch and refreshments.

 

Certification

A certificate of achievement will be awarded to Learners who successfully pass assessments and the qualification is valid for 5 years. The Learner will need to renew this certificate every 5 years before it expires by attending the 2 Day SMSTS Refresher course. Otherwise, they will need to take the full 5 Day course again.

The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
