Course Content:
The course covers the following areas:
- Health & Safety at Work Act
- Regulations relevant to the management of health and safety within the Construction Industry
- CDM, Risk Assessment, Management Systems
- Scaffolding, Electricity, Excavations
- Demolitions, Confined Spaces
- Accidents and associated legislation (RIDDOR)
Objectives:
Designed to assist managers and potential managers to develop a knowledge, awareness and understanding of their legal, moral and social responsibilities in respect of health, safety and welfare.
The course highlights the need for risk assessments in the workplace, the implementation
of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and
safety culture among the workforce. This information together with the experience gained
will enable managers to organise, monitor and measure both health and safety performance on site, and maintain safe systems and safe methods of work.
Assessment:
Course members are required to reach or exceed a minimum level of achievement on
the course. Assessment is determined by:
- Full attendance of all sessions of the course
- Assignments / projects during the course
- Objective examination
The CITB SMSTS certificate is issued on successful completion.

- A laptop/tablet with camera and fast internet connection
- A form of photo ID
- A quiet room to complete the course in
