Course Overview
This 1-day SCO1 and SCO2 is designed for Authorising Engineers and Competent Persons (NROs supervisory level).
This course is suitable for all gas industry personnel involved in operational works on the Gas Networks and certain types of Meter Installations including, but not strictly limited to, persons who are or will become: Named Authorising Engineers or Named Competent Persons with Permits to Work in Forms of Authority and for Routine and Non-Routine Operations.
Course Content:
The Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Process and Procedure provides for such a safe system of works on gas Networks and requires individuals to be registered under SCO.
This course provides knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- The roles and responsibilities outlined in the procedure with specific emphasis on competent persons
- When various permit types are used
- Application of permits to work and forms of authority
- The requirements for maintaining records
- The process for transferring individuals between companies
- The deviation and communication process
- The inspection, monitoring and audit requirements
Assessment
Continuous practical assessment is carried out by the instructor throughout the day, including a written assessment.
Certificates
Once the delegate has successfully completed the SCO1 & SCO2 course and assessment, the results will be submitted to the EUSR register and cards will be issued to the delegate in due course.
Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the SCO1 & SCO2 course before the expiry date on your card.
Pre-Requisites
- Nominations from Reviewing Managers for Competent Persons who carry out physical works on gas sites or apparatus.
- A Competent Person has the ability, appropriate training, knowledge and experience to supervise and/or carry out physical work on site in a safe and proper manner.
