Objectives To enable candidates to undertake electrical work to comply with the requirements of the Electricity at Work Act 1990. Candidates will be able to demonstrate that they can undertake advanced wiring and electrical tasks and are able to test that the work is safe to put back into service.

Course Content The course consists of the following written and practical assessments –
- requirements - Lighting safe selection of test equipment - Safe use of Test equipment - Reading Schematic Drawings - Basic Electrical Testing of control circuit components - Single Phase Motor Analysis - Fault diagnostic on a single Phase Air Conditioning or Refrigerated application - Applicable Building Regulations - Electrical Safety legislation, regulations standards and terminology - Identification of unsafe electrical situations - Earthing and bonding requirements - Cable and component selection - Installation and replacement of electrical components - Recording of electrical test results and completion of certification - Installing and or re-routing cables - Maintenance - Electrical at work regulations - Meggers and multimeters - Three Phase Applications - Large Commercial & Industrial Applications - Star Delta Control Panels Assessment – practical and theory exam.
Outcomes Achievement of the CITB Refrigeration Electrics CSkills card in Utilities Engineering and progression onto Level 3 Electro Technical NVQs or Diploma qualifications.
