A two day local government approved course for child carers.

Course Duration: 12 hours training time

Course Outline:

This course is designed to teach those working in a childcare environment, the correct first aid procedures when treating babies & children with various injuries / conditions. It will also cover record keeping and appropriate contents for a first aid kit.

Course Content Includes:

- Principles of first aid

- Priority of treatment

- Telephone procedures

- Administration of medications

- Unconsciousness

- Removal of clothing

- Resuscitation

- Choking

- Asthma

- Diabetes

- Concussion

- Epilepsy

- Meningitis

- Hygiene

- Displaced tooth

- Extremes of temperature

- Squashed fingers

- Insect stings

- Foreign objects

- Splinters

- Anaphylactic shock

- Sickle cell anaemia

- Fractures

- Fainting

- Burns

- Shock

- Bleeding – minor, severe, foreign

- Concussions

- Common ailments

All candidates receive a comprehensive first aid manual.
