Course Details:
Our Paediatric First Aid course is a requirement for anyone working directly with children. This would include Nurseries, Daycare centres and Schools. When dealing with the young it is essential to recognise how signs and symptoms can differ from that of adults, and how to perform child and baby related First Aid.
This course will cover a wide range of subjects that will enable delegates to assist a child, or a baby, in almost any emergency situation until emergency medical services arrive.
This course meets all the requirements of OFSTED and the Department for Education and Skills (DFES).
Pre-requisites: No previous experience is necessary to join this course.
Course Aims:
To provide the delegates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively perform First Aid procedures on Children and Babies.
Course Content:
- The role of a First Aider in childcare
- Primary Survey
- Recovery Position
- CPR - Child and baby
- Bleeding management
- Choking procedures - child and baby
- Treatment for shock
Assessment Criteria: Continued practical and written skills assessment throughout the course.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a nationally regulated qualification which is valid for three years.
