This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be particular interest to teachers, child minders, creche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care.
About:
Paediatric First Aid Training Course is a 2-day course required by Law and meets the Childcare Registration requirements, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted regulations.
Course Syllabus includes:
- The Role of the Paediatric First Aider - Planning for First Aid Emergencies – Creating a safe environment for the child. - Assessment of a child casualty - Placing the baby or child in the recovery position - Artificial Ventilation and CPR for babies and children - Resuscitation
Recognising and dealing with:
- Shock - Anaphylactic shock - Electric shock - Bleeding - Burns and scalds - Chocking - Suspected fractures - Head, neck and back injuries - Cases of poisoning - Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses. - Eye injuries - Bites and stings - The effects of extreme heat and cold - Febrile convulsions. - The emergency needs of chronic medical conditions including epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes. - Meningitis and other serious sudden illnesses. - The course also includes basic adult first aid skills, details on accident reporting and administering medication for those working in a childcare setting.
Certification:
Certification of the course is valid for 3 years upon completion. On successful completion candidates will be awarded a Paediatric First Aid at Work Level 3 certificate by First Aid Awards (FAA) who are regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation.
