Duration:
The duration of a Level 2 NVQ varies depending on the candidate and their level of experience, so can take between two and six months to complete.
Who Is The NVQ For?
Any person or employee that works in construction and needs to upgrade their Red Trained Operator to a Blue Competent Operator CPCS Card. This NVQ covers the majority of CPCS plant categories. For example it covers all excavators (A58/9), dumpers (A09), rollers (A31), telescopic handlers (A17) and so on. The last unit is tailored to the relevant plant category on your CPCS card. Slinger Signaller (A40), Crane Supervisor (A62) and Appointed Person (A61) are the only CPCS categories not covered by this NVQ.

Operate Plant or Machinery to Compact.
Operate Plant or Machinery to Process.
Additional Units (not compulsory)
Move and Handle Resources.
Operate Specialised Powered Tools and Equipment.
Set Out Secondary Dimensional Work Control.
Slinging and Signalling the Movement of Loads.
Plant Operations from a Barge.
Erect and Dismantle Plant (Crane and Rigs).
The candidate must have previously successfully completed an Operative's Health and Safety touch screen test within the past two years.
Training Course Methods
On-Site Assessments (OSAT): The NVQ will be assessed over approximately three on-site assessments, whilst the candidate carries out their day-to-day work.
Evidence will be collected in the form of photographs, method statements, witness testimonials and professional discussions by your dedicated Assessor.
Additional Information
Once the candidate is registered, after the profile and induction visit, they will be able to apply for a one year CPCS Card extension.
Once they have completed their NVQ their card will then last five years but is simply renewed by a Construction Skills Operative's touch screen Health and Safety test, keeping log book hours, and then the card will run for a further five years.
Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in undertaking elements of this training course.
