NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations - (A40) - Slinger Signaller

Duration:

The duration of a Level 2 NVQ varies depending on the candidates, their level of experience and the work that they undertake.

The On Site Assessments (OSAT) route takes between two and six months to complete.

Who is the NVQ for?

Any person or employee that works in construction and needs to upgrade their Red Trained Operator to a Blue Competent Operator CPCS Card.

Training Course Content:

Mandatory Units

- Conform to General Workplace Safety
- Conform to Efficient Work Practices
- Prepare Plant or Machinery for Operational Performance

- Direct and Guide the Movement of Plant or Machinery

- Arrange and Secure Loads

Additional Units (not compulsory):

- Move and Handle Resources
- Operate Specialised Power Tools and Equipment
- Set Out Secondary Dimensional Work Control
- Slinging and Signalling the Movement of Loads
- Plant Operations from a Barge
- Erect and Dismantle Plant (crane and rigs)

Pre-Requisites:

The candidate must have previously successfully completed an Operative's Health and Safety touchscreen test within the past two years.

Training Course Methods:

The NVQ will be assessed over approximately three on-site assessments, whilst the candidate carries out their day-to-day work.

Additional Information:

Once the NVQ has been booked, the candidate's NVQ assessor will contact the candidate within six weeks to complete their profile and induction.

Once this has been completed, the training centre will apply for a one year CPCS card extension.

Certification:

Once the NVQ has been successfully completed, the candidate will receive a CPCS Competent Operator Blue card which is valid for five years.

In order to renew this card, candidates must complete relevant touchscreen tests with the CPCS and also provide proof of experience through a log book of their hours using the machine over the past five years.
