Who should attend?
This Location and Avoidance of Underground Services training programme is designed for Operatives and Supervisors who have to locate underground apparatus for work on the road and highways.
Aim:
To provide both Operatives and Supervisors with the skills and knowledge to carry out cable avoidance work in-line with the current NRSWA Act in order to safeguard themselves and others.
Course Content:
- New Roads & Streetworks Act
- HSG47
- Basic principles of location and avoidance of underground services
- Identifying apparatus
- Reading plans
- Practical use of CAT3
- Practical use of a Genny
Knowledge:
By the end of the course delegates will be able to understand plans, identify apparatus, operate a CAT3 & Genny and identify potential risks to themselves and others.
Course Training Methods:
This course is mainly classroom based, however there are practical elements where delegates have to identify services, locate cables around the site using a CAT3, use a genny and plot various services found on site onto a plan.
Certification:
Upon successful completion delegates will receive a City & Guilds unit accreditation by way of a certificate.
Additional information:
Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems or medication that may create difficulties in undertaking certain elements of this course.
Delegates must be competent in English, written and verbal.
