Course Overview
Course Dates

This course aims to provide a sound understanding of the techniques used to locate and avoid underground apparatus on the Highway. It complies with the mandatory requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

Aims

To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

Interpret and understand plans showing location of underground apparatus.
Identify and understand how to identify types of utilities apparatus and highways services encountered during excavation.
Identify and understand the risks and implications of damage to underground utilities apparatus and highway services.
Use pipe and cable location equipment.
Safe digging techniques (HSG47).

Outcome

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive multiple CABWI Certificates and a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) Card.

The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
