This NRSWA streetworks training course is for utilities, contractors and authorities working on or around the highway. The course programme will involve classroom study and practical assessments.
The New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) sets out the procedures and guidelines for personnel employed by local authorities, utility companies and their contractors for the purpose of any road work in the highway or on footpaths. The Act and associated Codes of Practice cover issues such as the notification requirements, safety to highway users and the standards required for the reinstatement of all excavations on the highway, standards for signing, lighting and guarding, etc.
Course Units:
LA - Location & Avoidance of underground apparatus
S - series certificates, for supervisors only:
S1 - Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
S2 - Monitoring Excavation in the highway
S3 - Monitoring Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
S4 - Monitoring Reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
S5 - Monitoring Reinstatement in bituminous materials
S7 - Monitoring Reinstatement of modular surfaces, and concrete footways
Certification:
Upon successul completion, delegates will achieve an SQA Certification and a Street Works Register ID Card which proves registration on the New Roads & Street Works Qualification Register.
