Who Should Attend:
The NRSWA operative course is for anyone who wants to undertake physical work on roads within the UK. Including excavation, backfill, reinstatement, signing, guarding and using tarmac and cold-lay materials.
Course Objectives:
To provide delegates with the knowledge to work on roads within the UK in the line with requirements of the NRSW Act 1991.
Course Contents:
The following activity will take place in this five-day course:
- 001 – Location & avoidance of underground apparatus
- 002 – Signing, lighting and guarding
- 003 – Excavation in the highway
- 004 – Reinstatement & compaction of backfill materials
- 005 – Reinstatement of sub base & road in non-bituminous materials
- 006 – Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials
- 009 – Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footway
Certification:
On completion of the course candidates will be registered with the relevant awarding body and receive certification. They will also receive a street works register ID card that proves registration on the NRSWA register. The candidates NRSWA card is valid for 5 years.
PPE
Because of the nature of the course, delegates will need the following PPE:
- Safety Helmet
- High Vis Clothing
- Gloves
- Safety Boots
- Waterproof Clothing
- Goggles
- Ear Defenders
