Overview

The aim of the Rough Terrain Fork Lift Truck is to provide candidates with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to work effectively and safely when applicable to Rough Terrain Masted Forklift operators to the NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standard.

Content

Course content enables candidates to gain skills and knowledge of:

• A basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and their responsibilities as a plant operator.
• An employer’s legal duties and responsibilities
• Learning a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
• Conducting all Pre-operation checks
• Start-up and all necessary maintenance and safety checks at the work area
• Being able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
• Being able to locate and identify steering, driving, and braking controls and explain their functions.
• Safely mounting and dismounting the machine
• Stacking and de-stacking in open and confined spaces
• Loading and unloading external transport safely
• Factors contributing to stability
• Fitting, moving, and adjusting attachments
• Motive and hydraulic controls
• Manoeuvring in open and confined areas
• Lifting and transferring loads accurately and safely at different locations.
• Loading and unloading external transport safely.
• Carrying out all end-of-shift and shut down procedures.

Assessment

NPORS Assessment is carried out in the form of both practical and theory tests

Taught by experts with extensive experience in this field, our courses are designed to be enjoyable whilst ensuring that candidates acquire the knowledge and skills required in order to pass the NPORS assessment.  Candidates will be issued with an NPORS operator’s card upon successful completion.
