This course is for qualifying our delegates as Mental Health First Aiders across all industries, allowing them to support co-workers and line managers by addressing issues and promoting positive mental health in the workplace.
What to Expect:
This MHFA course will teach you how to listen, reassure and respond and potentially how to stop a crisis from occurring.
You will learn how to recognise the warning signs of mental ill health and develop the necessary skills and confidence to approach and support. In addition, you will address the stigma of mental ill health and an understanding of mindfulness.
What is Covered:
MHFA England is an internationally recognised and accredited training course. We provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to identify symptoms and support yourself and others experiencing mental health problems.
The course is split over two sessions held on one day, face-to-face. You will learn, discuss and interact in groups and individual activities to cover:
Session One
- Mental Health First Aid
- Mental health and stress in the workplace
- Stigma and discrimination
- Depression
- Anxiety disorders
- Other mental health issues (eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis)
- Early warning signs of mental ill health
- Alcohol, drugs and mental health
Session Two
- The Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE)
- How to: Approach the person, assess and assist with any crisis
- Suicide
- Listen and communicate non-judgementally
- Give support and information
- Signpost appropriate professional help
- Encourage other supports
- Recovery
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course we will issue you with a MHFA England certificate.
