Learners undertaking this course will be considered First Aiders for Mental Health and be a point of contact within the workplace to help and support those with a suspected mental health condition.

Module 1 – Introduction

- What is substance misuse? - Alcohol misuse - The effects of drugs and alcohol on mental health - First aid for drug and alcohol misuse - Treatments and signposting for drugs and alcohol - Module duration: 15 minutes
Module 8 – First aid action plan for mental health Module content:
- Check for significant risk of suicide or harm - Apply non-judgemental communication skills - Reassure and provide information - Encourage professional support and self-help strategies - Practical assessment – First Aid Action Plan for Mental Health - Module duration: 60 minutes
Module 9 – Mental health in the workplace Module content:
- Developing a clearer picture of mental health in the workplace Factors affecting mental health in the workplace Building a mentally healthy workplace The five steps to mental wellbeing - Module duration: 35 minutes
