Mental Health Awareness

Learning outcomes: 

• Understand the difference between Mental Health and Mental Ill Health
• Understanding Mental Well being and how staff can remain resilient in the workplace during difficult situations
• How others can support individuals with their well being in the workplace
• Understanding Risk factors associated with mental ill health eg. Inherited traits, brain chemistry that can lead to depression, life situations, chronic medical conditions
• Recognising how mental health problems can affect day to day living and recognising character traits
• Understanding how social and cultural attitude can lead to mental illness (including discrimination 
  and stereotyping and the Equality Act of 2010)
• Understanding work related stress (useful and harmful stress)
• Managing Stress in the workplace (support and self managing)
• Understanding Anxiety and panic attacks including signs and symptoms
• Understanding depression and its common symptoms
• Understanding why mental health is not discussed in the workplace
• Recognising types of legislation that applies to mental health UK
• Understanding the Management standards approach and your role as an employer including your 
  duty of care and obligations
• Recognising changes in an employee and how that effects the workplace
