The Level 4 Advanced Certificate in Food Safety is a qualification aimed at managers or personnel looking to broaden their knowledge in the Food Safety sector. The qualification is intended for learners already working in catering, or those who are preparing to work in
the industry, and whose job requires them to have some responsibility for food safety. Learners are likely to have management responsibilities for an operational team.
Pre-requisites:
It is advised that learners already hold the Level 3 Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety, or equivalent.
Validity of Award: This qualification does not expire.
Length of Course: 40 guided learning hours.

- The operational requirements needed to ensure food safety
- How to establish food safety management procedures
- The controls required for food safety
- How to maintain food safety management procedures
Each of the topics above are made up of smaller learning objectives that complete the course syllabus.
This qualification covers the subject of food hygiene at a suitable depth to ensure learners have a thorough knowledge of hazards and controls; its focus is on the importance of developing, implementing and monitoring food safety procedures.
Assessment:
This qualification is assessed through a 2-part examination consisting of a multiple-choice section and a short written answer section
