The Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations -Supervising Lifts (Construction) qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.
This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work in Controlling Lifting Operations -Supervising Lifts within the construction industry.
You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.
Duration:
The duration of a Level 4 NVQ varies depending on the candidates, their level of experience and the work that they undertake.
The On Site Assessments (OSAT) route takes between four and six months to complete.
Who is the NVQ for?
Any person or employee that works in construction and needs to upgrade their Red Trained Operator to a Blue Competent Operator CPCS Card.
Training Course Content:
Mandatory Units
The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units:
-Supervising Lifting Operations Using Lifting Equipment in the Workplace
-Maintaining the Dimensional Accuracy of the Work in the Workplace
-Co-ordinating Preparation Work for Site or Lifting Operations in the Workplace
-Allocating Work and Checking People’s Performance in the Workplace
-Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
-Maintaining Systems for Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental Protection in the Workplace
-Coordinating and Organising the Control of Work in the Workplace
-Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant, Equipment or Machinery in the Workplace
This qualification is supported by federation -Construction Plant Association (CPA).
Pre-Requisites:
The candidate must have previously successfully completed a Supervisors Health and Safety touchscreen test within the past two years.
Training Course Methods:
The NVQ will be assessed over approximately three on-site assessments, whilst the candidate carries out their day-to-day work.
Evidence will be collected in the form of photographs, method statements and professional discussions.
Additional Information:
Once the NVQ has been booked, the candidate's NVQ assessor will contact the candidate within six weeks to complete their profile and induction.
Once this has been completed, the training centre will apply for a one year CPCS card extension.
Certification:
Once the NVQ has been successfully completed, the candidate will receive a CPCS Competent Operator Blue card which is valid for five years.
In order to renew this card, candidates must complete relevant touchscreen tests with the CPCS and also provide proof of experience through a log book of of their hours using the machine over the past five years.
