NHSS 12D M1/M2 Registered Traffic Management Operative (RTMO) – Temporary traffic management on single carriageway urban and rural roads. T1/T2 Trainee category allows you to work on single carriageway roads under a qualified 12D M1/M2 RTMO and/or supervisor, fully qualified 12D M1/M2 RTMO status allows you to work on single carriageways roads to establish a TTM site for works purposes and install passive and positive traffic control measures as part of a TTM crew.

All persons needing to become an M1/M2 Registered Traffic Management Operative (RTMO) as described in the Sector Scheme Document 12D.

The 12D T2 course will cover
• Methods of Traffic Control
• Conducting Work Site Surveys
• Traffic Control: Give & Take, Priority, Stop & Go, Portable Traffic Signals Equipment & Vehicles
• Road Closure & Traffic Diversions
• Works at Roundabouts
• Centre Based Assessments
On completion of the course, delegates will have a knowledge of:
• Health and Safety at work and how risk assessments and method statements impact on work duties
• Relevant codes of practice and other associated documentation when involved in temporary traffic management
• The equipment required in Temporary Traffic Management, and legal obligations when placing equipment on the highway
• The requirements for Mobile and Short duration works
• Different methods of both passive and positive traffic control
• The principles involved when dealing with roundabouts, road closures and diversions
Pre-requisites:
If you are new to the industry or do not hold other current NHSS 12ABCD TTM skills registration cards/certificates you will need to complete and hold a valid TTMBC skill prior to attending the 12D T1/T2 training courses. M7 is a stand alone course and does not the remove the requirement for TTMBC.

Imporant Information:
Full RTMO status can be gained by completing the 12D T1 and T2 training courses and a minimum of 3 practical assessments as prescribed in the Sector Scheme Document. The assessments must be completed within a two year period starting from the date of the 1st assessment. The registration as an NHSS 12D M1/M2 RTMO is only valid if both the 12D M1/M2 logbook assessments have been completed AND the T1/T2 course certificates/skills are valid.
Fully qualified 12D M1/M2 RTMOs can gain additional 12D modules (M3 Low Speed Dual Carriageways, M4 Convoy Working, M5 Multiphase Traffic Signals and M6 RLTMO), please search for these additional modules as required.
