Ladder Association Ladder & Step Ladder Combined User & Inspection

Delegates can also choose to do a combined User and Inspection course. Lasting a full day, it will teach delegates everything listed above on the use and inspection of ladders and stepladders.

Ladder & Stepladder User course

This is our main course for anyone who regularly uses ladders or stepladders as part of their daily work. It consists of practical and theory assessments over at least four hours, and covers when and how to use a ladder, handling and storage, understanding the law, standards, and potential hazards.

Ladder & Stepladder Inspection course

The inspection course is aimed at anyone who may be responsible for inspecting and maintaining ladders or stepladders in their workplace. It is as comprehensive as the Ladder & Stepladder User course, and covers practical guidance on assessing the need for inspection, fault-finding and recommending actions, record keeping, as well as the law.

Learning Objectives:

Delegates will be competent to:

- Assess and determine when it's appropriate to inspect a ladder or stepladder
- Record finding and recommend action to be taken if faults are found
- Accurately record details of ladders and stepladders

The will have an understanding of:
- What they need to know about he law and standards relating to ladder and stepladders
- Storage and handling of ladders and stepladders

Training Activity:

- Slide led – trainer providing information and asking questions
- A group exercise on inspections & hazard analysis
- An individual questionnaire on inspection of Ladders & Stepladders

Assessment:

- Multiple Choice Questions
- Ladder / Stepladders fault finding
- Carrying, positioning ladders & stepladders

Assessment Closed book course with a pass mark of 80%

Certification:

Award A Ladder Association certificate and LadderCard will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions at the level they attend the course. This has a five year validity period.
