Course Overview:
- Course has both Theory & Practical elements both need to be passed, this course is designed to enable operators to manoeuvre, drive & position the MEWPs safely & proficiently
- This course will be run on Scissor lift & Boom lift
- A light lunch will be provided to delegates attending this course
Course Content:
- Awareness of different types of MEWPs
- Safe operation of MEWPs & limitations of use
- Pre-use checks, inspection & function tests
- Planning the route before operating the MEWP
- Traveling the route and maneuvering the MEWP
- Setting up the MEWP for work
- Basic operational practice
- Achievement testing
- Selection & use of fall arrest equipment
- Log book issue
- Course review & close
By the end of the course, the delegate will:
- Be fully aware of the relevant Health & Safety regulations & Accident prevention & Control
- Be fully aware of the needs regarding personal protection equipment
- Be able to maneuver the machine as required & drive the machine proficiently & safely
- Be able to correctly position & carry out the required tasks in a correct & proper manner
Who Should Attend:
If you need to work at height & use access equipment (MEWPs):
- IPAF believes that you should receive basic training
- In addition to your main job, e.g. electrician, painter, decorator, cleaner, you will acquire a new skill
- Platforms are designed to be easy to use & offer a safe way to work at height, but with basic training you will use the equipment more effectively &safely
If you are an employer:
- You can be sure that legal requirements have been fulfilled if your platform operators have the PAL card
- Most legislation, covering Health & Safety obligations, accident prevention & work at height regulations, requires you to provide employees with proper & adequate training in the use of work equipment
- IPAF training to the highest standard means that your platform operators will also work more efficiently & productively
Course Entry Criteria:
- Applicants should be at least 16 years old and physically fit
- It is desirable (but not mandatory) that applicants have had driving experience as an indication of dexterity
Qualification:
- On successful completion delegates will receive a PAL (Powered Access Licence) Photo ID card giving instant recognition of identity & the categories accredited
- The card is valid for 5 years, after which the delegate need to be re-assessed
Additional Information:
Please note: The theory aspect of this course is completed online and must be completed prior to the course start date. Please allow up to 4 hours to complete the theory training, This is a rough time frame, however the exact duration may vary depending on each individual. If the theory aspect is not complete prior to the course start date, the delegate will be turned away and no refund or transfer will be given.
