This course is aimed at personnel who are or will be responsible for the loading and unloading of MEWPs on a range of transportation. Course Aims:
- To instruct an operator in the correct safety procedures for the loading, unloading and securing of plant machinery prior to or following transportation by road. - At the end of the course the operator will: - Be aware of the relevant health and safety regulations - Be aware of accident prevention and control measures - Be aware of the needs with regard to personal protection equipment and regulations - Be able to safety load, unload and secure different types of machinery onto the body of a suitable vehicle ready for transportation legally on the public highway Course Contents:
- Introduction and Housekeeping - Legal duties and law - Types and suitability of vehicles used for moving load - Inspection of vehicle to be used for transportation - Inspection of load/item to be transported - Risk assessment - Appropriate PPE - Cite of vehicle ready to load - Method of loading - Position of load on vehicle - Marking of large loads - Types of securing equipment and use - How to secure load on body - Safety checks before transportation - Positioning vehicle for loading - Method of unloading - Leaving machine when off loaded - Multiple loads - Safety checks before leaving site - Multi-choice question paper - Practical training/assessment - Course review and appraisal
Entry Requirements:
- Candidates must hold a valid IPAF operator qualification and the correct vocational driving licence for the vehicle they wish to transport the MEWPs with. - Literacy and language comprehension are important requirements on all courses. - Any physical impairment or literacy issues should be discussed with the trainer prior to making a booking so we can best accommodate your needs.
