Everyone who is employed or an employer needs to be familiar with the basics of health and safety at work and this one day course is aimed at everyone who are not health and safety experts. It will give all the information which will allow attendees to keep themselves and others safe at work. The course is general and not industry specific, but will enable all non-health and safety specialists to increase their knowledge and awareness of relevant issues.
Course Contents:
- Machinery safety, including relevant warning signage, safety clothing etc. - Chemical safety, including how to access information contained in COSHH guidelines. - Legal responsibilities - Fire precautions and when intervention is safe. - Accident prevention and risk assessment - Manual handling and prevention of back injury - Working with VDUs
At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Work safely without risk to themselves and others, understanding consequences of bad practice. - Carry out risk assessments - Understand workplace safety precautions and their importance - Identify and follow lines of communication - Identify and use appropriate signs and signals - Have knowledge of reporting pathways and how to create incident reports
Assessment:
This course is classroom based, delivered via PowerPoint presentation and is assessed by a multiple choice test at the end of the course.
Certification:
There will be a multi-choice assessment and project at the end of the course and all those passing will receive an accredited IOSH certificate for Working Safely. Duration:

This course is accredited by the IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).
