Managing Safely® is unlike any other course. It’s a practical programme with a sharp business focus, full of step-by-step guidance.  It is the market-leading health and safety course for managers and supervisors.  It is for anyone working in a health and safety role who wants to learn the basics of safety and health. Delegates will learn practical actions they need to take and gain the knowledge and tools to tackle the safety and health issues they’re responsible for.

The IOSH Managing Safely® course encompasses seven comprehensive units of study:

Module 1: Introducing Managing Safely
1.    Importance of managing safely.
2.    Your role in influencing safe management practices.

Module 2: Assessing Risks
1.    Definition of risk.
2.    Understanding risk assessments.
3.    Procedures for conducting risk assessments.

Module 3: Controlling Risks
1.    Strategies for risk reduction.
2.    Selection of appropriate risk control measures.

Module 4: Understanding Responsibilities
1.    Legal obligations in health and safety.
2.    Functioning of health and safety law.
3.    Key elements of a health and safety management system.

Module 5: Understanding Hazards
1.    Identification of common hazards.
2.    Management and mitigation of common hazards.

Module 6: Investigating Incidents
1.    Reasons for incident investigations.
2.    Mechanisms of incident occurrence.
3.    Techniques for conducting incident investigations.

Module 7: Measuring Performance
1.    The concept of performance measurement in health and safety.
2.    Methods for measuring health and safety performance.
3.    Introduction to health and safety auditing.

Assessments:

The assessment for IOSH Managing Safely®️ consists of two components:

1.    Multiple-Choice Test: This test includes 30 questions, with a total of 60 points available. To pass, you need to achieve a score of 60%, which equates to 36 out of 60 points.
2.    Practical Assessment: In this part of the assessment, participants are required to demonstrate how they can apply the knowledge acquired during the course to real-world scenarios. This involves completing a risk assessment within two weeks of concluding the initial course.

Certification: 

Upon successful completion of both parts of the assessment, participants will be awarded the IOSH Managing Safely®️ certificate.
