Summary

A practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, what the employer’s duties are and what should be done if they think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

Who Should Attend?

This course is for those who are in, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce, to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry equipment is a good understanding of spoken and written English.

Course Content

- Introductions and objectives

- Accident prevention and reporting

- Health and welfare introduced

- Manual handling

- Work at height

- Personal protective equipment

- Emergency procedures and first aid

- Fire prevention and control

- Hazardous substances

- Electrical safety

- Hand-held equipment and tools

- Noise and vibration

- Site transport safety

- Excavations and confined spaces

- Examination

- Safety signs and signals

On Completion

The method of assessment will be by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course, as well as being expected to be interactive during the course. Successful delegates will receive a ConstructionSkills certificate, renewable every 5 years.
